George Mason Militia Payments

 

Tuesday June 18, 1776

 

"Ordered that a warrant issue to George Mason Esq. For the use of George Mason Junior for three thousand pounds five shillings for two Guns furnished the Detachment of his Minute Company sent to Hampton."

Friday December 20, 1776

 

"Ordered that a Warrant issue to George Mason Esquire for six hundred and three pounds five shillings and three farthings for the pay of the Fairfax Militia as settled by the Commissioners.

Ordered that a Warrant issue to George Mason Esquire for the nine hundred and forty-seven pounds four shillings being the recruiting Money for Captain’s John Allison and Samuel Arrell to enable them speedily to compleat their respective Companies, But Col. Mason is requested previous to his paying the said Captains to take their bonds with proper security conditioned for the just application of the Money to be received by them severally and to account therefore when hearafter called on. And to transmit the said bonds to this board by the first safe opportunity."

Monday December 23, 1776

"Ordered that a Warrant issue to Colonel George Mason for the use of Captain George Mason for eight pounds for two Guns furnished his Company of Minute Men."

Ordered that a Warrant issue to Col. George Mason for eighteen hundred and sixty pounds sixteen shillings and eight pence on Account of two thousand nine hundred bushels of salt purchased of Captain Hinton, which money Col. Mason is requested to pay Mr. John Dalton for the said Hinton or to the said Hinson himself on his producing Mr. Dalton’s receipt for the said salt.
