Hobo Mason, He Owns the Plantation. Gunston Hall, Land and All
Hobo is the cat of Gunston Hall that is 15-16 years of age and suffers from Chronic Renal Failure (CRF) , Non-regenerative Anemia ( He licks rocks and is confirmed by blood test), and an immune disorder (unconfirmed by tests). He was given 5 days to live in August of 2006. This Cam documents that with love and care, CRF elderly cats can live on without suffering. He does have some pain as any cat his age would, but he is not suffering. The two are not the same. He weighs 7lbs the same as in August of 2006. He is regularly weighed. He looks thin mostly because of dehydration as his kidneys work overtime. He is being given subcutaneous fluids of Lactated Ringer's solution every day at this point by a volunteer. The pictures were taken before he got his daily fluid by I.V. and as such he looks his worst. Since August, Hobo was denied outside water sources which made his condition worse and the Subcutaneous fluids had to be given every day instead of every other day. Hobo almost never missed a day going outside as he was a real outdoor cat and only slept inside. He was eventually denied sufficient medical care by Gunston Hall. It is a pleasure to know Hobo as he embodies the true spirit of George Mason.
